RECRUITING TIPS

If working with an executive recruiter is new to you, it’s our pleasure to share some tips with you.

DO:

Do feel that your information is safe with us.  We work under the strictest standards of confidentiality.  We do not plaster your information on the Internet or send your resumes to companies without your knowledge or permission.

DO:

DO embrace patience, as it is often a necessity in the recruiting process.  From the first connection to a signed employment contract, many aspects need to align.  The process rarely wraps up in days. More often than not, it takes weeks and can even take a couple of months.

DO:

DO consider yourself special if we reach out to you. We carefully consider and thoughtfully identify candidates that we believe match with the roles for which we are recruiting. We do not send mass emails.

DO:

DO understand that our services are completely free to candidates.  We are paid by the company, only at the end of a successful recruiting journey.

DO:

DO be completely honest with us.  For example, if you were fired from a job, tell us.  We have seen many candidates lose out on great opportunities because they were not truthful from the start.   Life can be complicated at times. We understand that.

DO:

DO feel free to reach out to us, at any time.  If you are a current candidate and want an update of the recruiting process, send us an email or give us a call.  We do our best to keep candidates abreast of their status but we also understand that sometimes a quick call can be quite reassuring, even if we have no news to share.  If you are a former candidate and just want to touch base, again, we love hearing from you.

DO:

DO feel free to recommend your colleagues to reach out to us or to send us their resume.  Career opportunities change almost daily and we rarely can predict future openings. If there’s not a current opening we are working on, we can keep him/her in mind for something down the road.

DON’T:

If we mention the client company’s name, DO NOT apply to that same position on a job board.  You may think you may be covering all your bases but you could actually be harming your chances.  We can no longer represent and guide you through the process, bringing you to the forefront of the competition.  Companies often eliminate candidates if they take this tactic too.

DON’T:

Once you know names of the people who will be interviewing you,  DO NOT contact them directly, either before or after the interview.   (But a hand-written thank you note or email is encouraged!)  You may be anxious to know the status of the recruiting process or wanting to make an additional sales pitch but by doing that, breaking away from established recruiting channels of communication, you will effectively end your candidacy.  Most hiring managers, even if they liked you, will kick you out of the recruiting process.  A general rule of thumb, from start to finish, all communication goes through us.
